Before he was even born, Gabriel was diagnosed with a severe congenital heart defect. Determined to give their son the strongest possible start, his parents, Jessica and Juan Gabriel, turned to Dr. David Kalfa and the team at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Heart Institute for specialized care.
Shortly after birth, Gabriel underwent an extremely complex neonatal heart surgery that included reconstruction of his aortic arch, repair of truncus arteriosus, and correction of a narrowed pulmonary artery. He emerged from surgery with excellent heart function and a strong path forward.
Today, Gabriel is thriving. His journey is a powerful reminder that expert care, supported by philanthropy, gives children like Gabriel the chance at a healthy future.
